Departamentul de studiul structurii si dinamicii litosferei

Structura departamentului

Laboratorul de Studiul Structurii si Dinamicii Litosferei are urmatoarea structura:

Directii principale de cercetare

Laboratorul nostru functioneaza inca de la infiintarea INCDFP, in 1994, si are ca scop principal cercetarea structurii litosferei la scara regionala si locala, folosind metode seismice si seismologice. Sunt abordate si subiecte privind dinamica litosferei si in special miscarile actuale ale crustei terestre masurate prin cele mai noi metode.

Structure of THE lithosphere

Doua importante proiecte internationale VRANCEA 99 and VRANCEA 2001 au fost desfasurate in cadrul Programului international Centrul de colaborare stiintifica 461, Universitatea din Karlsruhe, Germania: CUTREMURELE PUTERNICE: O PROVOCARE PENTRU GEOSTIINTE SI INGINERIA CONSTRUCTIILOR, desfasurat in Romania intre anii 1997 – 2007 si sunt prezentate in figura urmatoare.

Interpretarea datelor seismice de adancime colectate in timpul acestor proiecte a fost facuta in comun de o echipa romano- germana.

Modelele finale si interpretarea geologica si geofizica a profilelor realizate in timpul desfasurarii acestor proiecte au fost executate si publicate in 3 articole din Tectonophysics: Tectonophysics, 340, 233-256, 2001; Tectonophysics, 410, 251-272, 2005; Tectonophysics, 430, 1-25, 2007.

Pentru orizonturile mai adanci valorile vitezelor seismice au fost masurate direct pe profilul de refractie VRANCEA’99, executat de INCDFP in cooperare cu Universitatea din Kalrsruhe, in cadrul cooperarii bilaterale CRC 461: “Cutremurele puternice - o provocare pentru Stiintele Pamantului si Ingineria Constructiilor”. Valorile vitezelor ca si modul de obtinere au fost prezentate pe larg de Hauser et al., 2001 si Raileanu et al., 2005. Este de remarcat ca pentru aceste orizonturi seismice valorile undelor S au fost obtinute prin procedee de prelucrare separate de valorile undelor P.

Pentru baza sedimentarului, aflata la 7000 m adancime, a fost masurata o viteza a undelor P de 5800 m/s si a undelor S de 3250 m/s (Raileanu et al., 2005).

Trecerea la fundamentul cristalin este marcata de o crestere a vitezelor la 5900 m/s , respectiv 3450 m/s (vezi Figura 4).

Modelul crustal de viteze al profilului seismic arata o structura stratificata care contine cuvertura sedimentara, crusta cristalina si mantaua superioara (Figura 4).Vitezele medii pentru intregul interval crustal in crusta sunt de Vp=6,2 km/ si Vs=3.58 km/s.

De-a lungul profilului seismic stiva sedimentara este alcatuita din 2 pana la 4 strate. Vp variaza de la 2,0 la 5,8 km/s, iar Vs de la 1,2 la 3,6 km/s. In partea sudica a profilului primul strat sedimentar este alcatuit din sedimente de varsta neogena (strat1, fig.12, Vp=2,1-2,7 km/s, Vs=1,2-1,6 km/s). De la capatul nordic al profiluli structura sedimentarului contine Panzele Moldavide, alcatuite din sedimente (stratele 2 si 3) cu viteze Vp=3,3-4,8 km/s si Vs=1,7-2,85 km/s). Al patrulea strat (stratul 4) constituie autohtonul mezo-paleozoic al Platformelor Scitica (in nord) si Moesica (la sud de pichetul 25) cu Vp=4,7-5,8 km/s si Vs=2,65-3,25. Grosimea pachetului de strate sedimentare variaza de la cca 7-8 km la marginile profilului la cca 12-13 km in centrul sau. Fundamentul cristalin este marcat de o crestere a vitezelor seismice la Vp=5,9 km/s si respective Vs=3,40-3,45 km/s ( Figura 4 si Hauser at al.,2001 ).

Vitezele seismice in crusta sunt relativ constante de-a lungul interfetelor si gradual crescatoare la Vp=6,2 km/s si Vs=3,7 km/s la baza crustei superioare. O interfata crustala definita prin reflexii PcP si ScS separa crusta superioara de cea inferioara la adancimi cuprinse intre 20 si 31 km adancime.

Crusta inferioara este caracterizata prin viteze seismice crescatoare in adancime de la Vp=6,7-7,0 km/s si respectiv Vs=3,9-4,07 km/s.

Adancimea la baza crustei (Moho) creste de la 38 km in nord la cca 41 km in centrul sectiunii, iar apoi scade la cca 30 km in capatul sudic.

In mantaua superioara au fost detecate viteze Vp=7,9 kms si Vs=4,4 km/s.


Proiectul VRANCEA 2001

Un profil seismic in lungime de 450 km si orientat WNW – ESE a fost executat in Romania in 2001 utilizand metoda refractiei de adancime. El se intinde din mijlocul Transilavaniei, traverseaza zona de curbura a Carpatilor Orientali si zona seismica Vrancea , catre bazinul Focsani si in continuare spre Orogenul Nord Dobrogean , pana in apropierea Marii Negre.

Un total de 10 incarcaturi explozive cu marimi de 300 – 1500 kg au fost inregistrate de un total de 700 geofoni. Calitatea datelor

A fost variabila, depinzand de marimea exploziei, dar si de conditiile geologice. Interpretarea datelor indica o structura multistratificata cu grosimi si viteze variabile. Partea sedimentara cuprinde pana la 7 strate cu viteze seismice intre 2.0 – 5.9 km/s. Domeniul sedimentar atinge o grosime maxima de 22 km in Bazinul Focsani. Succesiunea sedimentara este alcatuita din (1) Panzele Carpatilor Orientali, (2) Bazinul Transilavaniei de varsta Neogena, ce acopera Bazinul Tarnavelor de varsta Cretacic tarziu pana la Paleogen, (3) Bazinul Focsani din Avanfosa Carpatica, ce acopera roci sedimentare autohtone Mesozoice si Paleozoice, ca si un probabil graben Permo-Triasic al Platformei Moesice si (4) rocile Paleozoice si Mesozoice ale Orogenului Nord Dobrogean.

Crusta cristalina prezinta variatii considerabile in grosime atat pe toata lungimea profilului, cat si in cadrul subdiviziunilor individuale, care se coreleaza bine cu blocurile crustale Tisza-Dacia, Moesian and Nord Dobrogean. Structura laterala de viteze din cadrul acestor blocuri ramane constanta la aproximativ 6,0 km/s, la interfata superioara a fundamentului cristalin si 7,0 km/s deasupra interfetei MOHO. Blocul Tisza-Dacia are o grosime de 33 – 37 km si prezinta zone de viteze reduse in primii 15 km adancime, datorate probabil cutelor de fundament alternante cu succesiuni sedimentare ale Carpatilor Orientali. Crusta cristalina din Platforma Moesica nu depaseste 25 km grosime si este acoperita de pana la 22 km de sedimente. Crusta Nord Dobrogeana atinge o grosime de circa 44 km si este probabil o prelungire a Platformei est Europene acoperita de o margine subtire a Orogenului Nord Dobrogean de 1-2 km grosime.

NATO Collaborative Linkage Grant - EST.CLG.978848 – 2001 – 2003: “Structure of the Earth’s lithosphere beneath Vrancea area, Romania, from seismic –refraction and tomography inversion”.

NATO country Co-director : Prof. Dr. Friedemann Wenzel. Romanian Co-director: Dr. Andrei Bala. This project supported the Romanian scientists to produce in cooperation with German scientists basic data for the investigation of the upper lithosphere in the Vrancea area of Romania, where within a small volume strong and destructive earthquakes occur. The project is linked to the CRC 461 at the University of Karlsruhe: “Strong Earthquakes: A challenge for Geosciences and Civil Engineering”.

NATO Networking Infrastructure Grant - EST.NIG.978382 – 2001 – 2002: “Improving the networking of the Romanian institutes of physics and their u plink connection to the Internet”.

NATO country Co-director : Dr. Klaus Bonjer. Romanian Co-director: Dr. Andrei Bala. This project was designed to improve and upgrade the link between the National Institute for Earth Physics and the National Institute for Physics of Materials, which is the main node for all the local networks of the physics research institutes located in Magurele campus. The uplink to the ROEDU.NET, which is the Internet service provider for all the institutes in Magurele campus, was also considerably improved.
